Lean Forward with Mentoring Program
In partnership with Florida Memorial University (FMU), we launched "Lean Forward with Mentoring", a program that matches student mentees with mentors. We develop and coordinate workshops, seminars and activities that encourage and promote a successful mentor/mentee relationship. Activities include Art/Cultural Appreciation, what it means to be a global citizen and the importance of having a passport, financial literacy regarding budgeting, the importance of maintaing good credit, business etiquette, how to "Dress For Success", career awareness and civic engagement. All of our Program Facets are engaged in the activities. View the Lean Forward with Mentoring video below.
The Miami Cluster Childhood Obesity Project, "Awareness and Advocay For Our Children"
The Miami Cluster Childhood Obesity Project consists of the Dade County (FL), Greater Miami (FL) and Miami-Biscayne (FL) Chapters. As a result of a successful proposal to The Links Foundation, Inc., the Florida Childhood Obesity initiative was partially funded for this project.
The project is designed to impact 5,000 households and families in the city of Opa-Locka and surrounding municipalities. By promoting a community-wide Childhood Obesity Prevention Awareness Public Relations Campaign, sponsoring a Childhood Obesity Prevention Student Summit targeting Nathan B. Young Elementary School and hosting a Town Hall Meeting, we will make a significant impact in the South Florida Community. Additional support will be provided by local businesses and governmental agencies.
